Stop spreading rumours and false information to the public about COVID-19 in Fiji.
The plea was made by Chief Medical Adviser, Dr Jemesa Tudravu, yesterday after social media posts claimed that there were other confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.
This, he said, was not true.

“I would like to state that the overall information in terms of the COVID-19 outbreak infection in Fiji remains the same,” Dr Tudravu said.
“There are no new cases since the Prime Minister’s statement on Thursday. The Government will inform you as soon as possible if the situation changes.”
Dr Tudravu said it was important that information regarding COVID-19 was derived from and clarified by credible sources.
“We encourage the members of the media and the public to continue to obtain information from credible sources such as the Fijian Government website and social media pages, the Ministry of Health website and the World Health Organisation source of information.”
Patient information confidentiality
Dr Tudravu also reiterated the importance of patient information confidentiality.
He said the Ministry of Health respects patient’s information confidentiality and the public should too.
“It is something that we guard. jealously and the privacy of patients is paramount and very important to us.
“We are concerned by the level of vilification that has taken place so far concerning our single patient at Lautoka Hospital and we are asking that for this to stop.”
