Creating safe spaces for women should be a top priority.

This was a call by Lenora Qereqeretabua as the nation observed the move towards recognising women from all backgrounds and races.

The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs said with the recent drug operations and increase in domestic violence, the need for stronger approach was crucial.

“Investing in women is not a moral imperative, it is a strategic necessity for achieving sustainable development,” Ms Qereqeretabua said.

“Starting from the family unit that’s a strong foundation where identity of a woman is birthed.”

As pillars of strength within communities and families our women must be acknowledged

“We should commit ourselves to building a more just and equal world, where all women are empowered to achieve their dreams and lead fulfilling lives,” she said.
