CWM Hospital Celebrates 100 Years Anniversary

President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere thanked current and former health care workers of the Colonial War Memorial Hospital who helped provide health services to Fiji.

In a show of appreciation, President Katonivere hosted a cocktail at State House to mark the CWM Hospital’s 100-year anniversary. 

The event was attended by current, former and retired workers of the CWM Hospital. 

Mr Katonivere said the iconic CWM Hospital stood as a reminder of the sacrifice, dedication, and partnership of all stakeholders for the good of the Fijian people. 

He said the health staff members and retirees have worked tirelessly at CWM Hospital to serve the people, heal the sick, deliver the newborns and save lives. 

“We might not have acknowledged you enough during your tenure at CWM Hospital and I take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of Government and the people of Fiji,” Mr Katonivere said. 

“You have brought joy to many families, smiles to those who are sick and comfort to those who had lost their loved ones. 

“You have also paved the way for the many trainees and health professionals in Fiji and the Pacific region including the international students who come through our very own CWM Hospital. 

“Your service to humanity is a divine calling from God.” 

In commemorating the CWM Hospital 100 years anniversary, a few events and activities are being planned this week by the Hospital. 

These events include a wellness walk, three-day open day culminated with a gala night.
