Datec (Fiji) Pte Limited hosted a two-day Microsoft Essentials and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Basics training programme for women entrepreneurs from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector in Suva as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.

The training was held at the Datec Training Academy in Garden City, Raiwai on March 5-6, and brought together women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to strengthen their digital capabilities and explore how technology can support business growth.

During the closing session, Datec chief executive officer Sushil Singh said he was grateful to the women participants for their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the programme.

Mr Singh encouraged them to think big, remain focused and continue working towards expanding their businesses, noting that the MSME sector was among the fastest-growing areas of the economy.

He said women entrepreneurs played a key role in driving the sector forward and contributed significantly to economic development, innovation and community resilience.

Participants welcomed the training, which focused on Microsoft productivity tools and introductory Artificial Intelligence concepts designed to improve productivity, streamline operations and support better business decision-making.

The programme also introduced essential information and communications technology skills and emerging technologies such as AI to help participants confidently adopt digital tools and strengthen the efficiency, competitiveness and long-term sustainability of their businesses.

The training is part of Datec Fiji’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme aligned with the global celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.

Each year the company brings together women entrepreneurs to build digital capability and encourage greater participation in the technology-driven business environment.

Datec said the initiative aimed to support, recognise and equip women entrepreneurs with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital economy while contributing to digital inclusion and MSME development in Fiji.
