As a mother of six and the wife of a church minister, Ivamere Dawai, believes that mothers were assigned by God to serve and build their families.

For the last two years, Ms Dawai has been travelling from Uto Village in the highlands of Nadi to sell root crops and vegetables at the Nadi Market.

Three months ago she started selling natural organic juice at $10 a bottle.

Originally from Sikituru, Nadi, Ms Dawai said the demand for organic juice has been overwhelming; she now makes more money than she did before.

“As a Methodist priest’s wife, we don’t rely on offerings on the church for financial support,” Ms Dawai said.

“We work on our faith and God-given ideas to run a business.

“I chose to sell organic juice because we have all these fresh organic combinations from our farm.”

Ms Dawai highlighted her dedication to seeing her children educated and meeting the obligations of her local church and of the vanua (Fiji, the land and the people).

As the nation approaches Mother’s Day, Ms Dawai said it would be good to celebrate the commitment, love and sacrifice all mothers make.

“Women are strong. Even without a father, the mothers can still hold the family together,” she said.

“We are assigned by God to serve.
