Defence Seek Clinical Report In Nausori Bus Stand Manslaughter Case

In the High Court in Suva, the defence lawyer in the Nausori bus driver manslaughter case has requested for a clinical progress report of the deceased.
This is in the case of Tailevu school teacher Mikaele Lawaniyavi, 44, labourer Josateki Rokodakunivosa Rabula, 22, and unemployed Isikeli Tawake Lagibalavu, 20.
It is alleged that on October 3, 2020, at Nausori Bus Stand, the three allegedly assaulted bus driver, Subhas Chand, with an umbrella.

Mr Chand had succumbed to injuries on October 9.
Lawaniyavi, Rokodakunivosa, and Rabula are individually charged with one count of manslaughter.
State prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Setefano Komaibaba told the court that the Investigating Officer was in the process of obtaining the consent of the Medical Superintendent to uplift the clinical progress report from the Nausori Health Centre and the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.
The matter has been adjourned to fix trial dates in the matter to October 12.
Bail for the three accused persons has been further extended.
