Deputy PMs guaranteed return if acquitted
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says both former Deputy Prime Ministers will resume their Cabinet roles if acquitted of their FICAC charges.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has guaranteed that former Deputy Prime Ministers Manoa Kamikamica and Biman Prasad will return to their Cabinet positions if they are acquitted of the charges laid against them.
Speaking to the media yesterday after the official opening of the FHL Tower, Mr Rabuka confirmed both men would resume their roles as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister.
“Yes, they come straight back,” he said when asked about their positions.

Both former Deputy Prime Ministers stepped down from Cabinet following charges by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
Mr Kamikamica resigned on October 22 after being charged with one count of perjury and one count of providing false information to a public servant, stemming from an investigation linked to the Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner.
Mr Prasad resigned on October 28 after being charged with one count of failing to comply with declaration requirements under Section 24 of the Political Parties Act 2013.
Both men remain Members of Parliament and are dealing with their charges through proper legal channels.
Mr Rabuka is currently overseeing their portfolios, with Assistant Minister for Finance Esrom Immanuel appointed as Acting Minister for Finance.
The Prime Minister had earlier said no one was above the law while affirming his commitment to maintaining government stability.
Mr Kamikamica remains deputy party leader of the People’s Alliance despite stepping down from Cabinet.
