Twenty-three police investigators in the Northern Division have been told to treat every inquiry file like a living document.
This was during a five-day workshop on investigators empowerment at Labasa Police Station on Friday.
Divisional Police Commander North, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kemueli Baledrokadroka said he was of firm believer that the success of policing lies in having the right attitude and mindset.

He said compromising one’s value does not just equate to being involved in corrupt practices, but can relate to not adhering or following the simplest things such as the failure to follow processes and procedures.
“When we compromise our values, we are not being honest to our oath of allegiance and oath to service and let me remind you that oath was pledged on a holy book so it must never be taken lightly,” SSP Baledrokadroka said.
“Officers, we are gauged on the success and failures of their investigation.
“Shortcuts or the failure to comply with relevant legislations and procedures will always surface and there is no place to hide.”
He said defence counsels would have a field day in court, if officers failed to stick to the basics of policing, don’t follow processes and procedures and if they were not honest in the application of their work.
