Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions ( ADPP) Laisani Tabuakuro has been suspended.

It is understood that she received her suspension letter on Wednesday afternoon from reinstated Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Christopher Pryde.

Ms Tabuakuro was not in office yesterday, and attempts to obtain her comments were unsuccessful. A visit to her residence also yielded no statement, as she declined to comment and referred all questions to Mr Pryde.

She has since written to Mr Pryde seeking an expla - nation for his decision.

Deputy DPP John Rabuku did not confirm or deny the suspension.

"Please ask Mr Pryde," he said, adding that

Mr Pryde was the best person to address the matter. Ms Tabuakuro was the lead counsel in the case that resulted in the convictions of former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and former Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho last year.

It is also understood that she was among the senior management at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) who filed a case against

Mr Pryde with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

Questions have been sent to Mr Pryde via email, but no response was received by press time.
