Boseiwaqa was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a man in his 20s from Naidovi, Sigatoka.
The accident happened before 6pm at Togovere Road in Sigatoka.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and tumble causing the death of the victim.
Solomoni Kobanalagi, the deceased’s adoptive dad, said the villagers of Togovere mourned the passing of his son.
“He was a good boy, hardworking and an obedient child. He doesn’t drink alcohol or smoke.”
Mr Kobanalagi said that afternoon the victim went with his namesake to buy some food stuff from the Cuvu Market when he got involved in the accident.
“They went in a carrier and my son was sitting right behind the driver. There were two other passengers with them at the back who witnessed all that happened.
“They claimed that their driver was racing with another carrier driver. It hit a tree and tumbled over.
“The rest of the passengers came out alive while my son lay there dead. I miss him,” he cried.
He said his son was an ardent rugby player. He played for the Nadroga U20 team. He also aimed to be part of the Fiji Military Force and applied for a job. Now all those dreams have vanished.
“We may have a different plan, but God’s plan prevails,” the distraught man said.
Ms Naisoro added that investigations continued, and a post mortem would be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
