Driver dies after crash with passenger minivan in Sigatoka

The driver was rushed to Sigatoka Hospital, where medical officials confirmed his death.

A 38-year-old man from Olosara, Sigatoka, is believed to be Fiji’s latest road fatality victim following a head-on crash involving a passenger minivan along Queens Road in te weekend.

Police said the victim was driving in Nayawa, Sigatoka, when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer onto the opposite lane and collide with a minivan carrying 15 passengers.

The driver was rushed to Sigatoka Hospital, where medical officials confirmed his death.

Two passengers travelling in the minivan remain admitted at Lautoka Hospital, while the remaining passengers were treated and discharged.

The national road death toll now stands at 18.
