The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has removed the requirement for a mandatory annual driving test for those over 70 in order to renew their driver’s licence and make it easier for senior citizen drivers.

LTA acting chief executive officer, Irimaia Rokosawa, said the move was meant to make it easier for the approximately 2772 Fijian licence holders above the age of 70, to renew their licence when compared to the previous requirements.

“In the past, our drivers in this particular age group had to take a driving test on a yearly basis, but that is no longer the case,” Mr Rokosawa said.

LTA revised its process for Driver Licence Renewal in line with Land Transport (Driver) Regulations 2000, after the LTA Board reviewed this policy on 28th October 28, 2021 and fine-tuned it for ease of understanding and implementation.
