Motorists have been cautioned against forming Viber groups to share police traffic checkpoint and speed radar locations, a practice aimed at evading road safety enforcement.
Acting Divisional Police Commander Northern, Superintendent of Police (SP) Eroni Soqosoqo, said these groups undermined police operations and pose serious risks.
"Drivers who rely on these alerts slow down near checkpoints but often speed up afterwards, leading to accidents in some cases," SP Soqosoqo said.

He emphasised the importance of collaboration with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to maintain road safety and remove reckless drivers from the roads.
With only days left until the New Year, police in the Northern Division remain vigilant, conducting foot patrols and road operations to ensure public safety.
LTA stresses driver responsibility
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) highlighted driver fatigue as a leading cause of road accidents in Fiji.
Prolonged driving without rest increases the risk of accidents, and the LTA advises motorists to prioritise breaks during long journeys.
"Passengers also play a crucial role in ensuring safety by speaking up if they notice signs of fatigue, such as drowsiness or erratic driving," the LTA stated on its official Facebook page.
The authority urged drivers to adopt a "Stop, Revive, and Survive" approach to reduce accidents and improve road safety.
Interfering with police and LTA operations by creating platforms to alert drivers about checkpoints and speed cameras must be stopped, as such actions jeopardise efforts to make roads safer for everyone.
