The Ministry of Education has recorded a drop in the pass rate in the Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination (FY13CE) results this year.

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro said the ministry recorded an 86 per cent pass rate this year compared to 91 per cent in 2023.

However, Mr Radrodro congratulated schools that had improved its overall results.

He congratulated government schools for improving their Y13 results including Adi Cakobau School, which improved its results from 97 per cent to 98 per cent and Vunisea Secondary, improved from 83 per cent to 97 per cent.

He expressed gratitude to the 10 secondary schools that achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

The schools are Nadarivatu Secondary, Nilsen High, Tavua District Secondary, Ratu Finau Secondary, South Taveuni Secondary, Nasesevia Secondary, Valebasoga Secondary, Duavata Secondary, Rewa Secondary and Jai Narayan College.

He said students applying for scholarships and loan with the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) could upload their results onto their accounts.

“I encourage and urge all parents and guardians to engage in open conversations with their children about their results.

“It is essential for students to feel supported as they consider their next steps, whether that involves pursuing higher education, vocational training, or entering the workforce,” Mr Radrodro said.

Mr Radrodro acknowledged all teachers, students, and parents for their hard work, which is evident in the results and looked forward to their continued support.

He called on students continuing their educational journey in schools and in tertiary institutes should stay focused on achieving their academic goals and perform to the best of their ability.

He said students who wished to apply for a recount or a remark could submit an application at the Examinations and Assessment Office at Gohil Building or at their nearest District Education Office.

The 30-day provisional period will allow students to apply for a recount or a remark.
