Drug abuse has become an alarming issue as it poses a major worry for police and elders in the Lomaiviti Province.

Incidents of rise in drug cases was highlighted by Divisional Commander East (DCE) Josua Vodo during the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting held at Studio 6, Suva.

But he said the rate of crime against women, children and rape has decreased over the past three years.

“We are urging the province to work together on this matter. The Police cannot handle this problem alone,” Mr Vodo said.

He said dealing with drug abuse required collective efforts because the problem could not be handled by Police alone.
