The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has reaffirmed its commitment to support the Fiji Police Force in the relentless fight against illicit drugs trafficking.

This pledge was formalised during a high-level meeting last Friday at the RFMF Headquarters in Suva between RFMF Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, and Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu.

A pivotal outcome of the meeting was the establishment of a collaborative joint operations capability, with planned exercises targeting the identification, disruption, and dismantling of drug operations in high-risk areas nationwide.

Major-General Kalouniwai emphasised the RFMF’s steadfast support for the Fiji Police Force, in upholding national security and public safety, reiterating the military’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement agencies in combating the drug crisis.

Commissioner Tudravu said the significance of inter-agency collaboration in effectively combating the illicit drug trade that threatens society.

The formation of a newly established joint task force signifies a concerted effort to launch targeted operations aimed at eradicating drug-ingested areas across Fiji.
