Duo Plan To Join Teaching Field

Uluivalili College student heads have shown their keen interest in attaining qualifications for the noble profession of teaching through tertiary studies at the Fiji National University’s (FNU), College of Humanities and Education (CHE).
Head Boy Emori Cereitawaca, and Head Girl Jimaima Mokosoi, were part of the senior students visited by the University team as part of the Career Discovery for High School Students initiative.
The team travelled to the high school in Wailevu, Savusavu to create awareness on the programmes and services offered by FNU.

Cereitawaca, 18, from Nakasa Village said he aspires to become an Information Technology teacher.
“I have set my career goal on becoming an IT Teacher as I want to become the first teacher from my family,” he said.
“My father is a farmer while mum stays home, so I want to do something different. I want to change the trend as no one is a teacher in my family. I have plans to join FNU for tertiary studies.”
“My parents are my biggest inspiration, and I want to make them proud. Being a teacher is a noble profession as you educate children. The presentation
by FNU was informative and it assisted us in choosing a career path.”
Mokosoi had travelled from Taveuni to Savusavu to study at the College. She resides with her relative, who is also a teacher at the same school.
“The programme conducted by FNU enabled me to set my goal of becoming a science teacher. It is an interesting profession where you get to impart knowledge to others,” she said.
College Vice-Principal, Salacieli Rainima, who is also a careers teacher, said the presentation created further awareness of the programmes and its requirement so that students were able to set their study and exam goals.
“We have been motivating the students through the career classes, and the session by FNU added value to the students. They were more knowledgeable on what subjects they are taking and the requirements set out by FNU in the various programmes.”
Emori and Jimaima are hard-working students, and they have been taking part in several activities and programmes.”
