Dux Dedicates Achievement To Adoptive Parents
Her parents, Ratu Kavai Vula and Mereani Vula said they were proud of their daughter’s achievement and would continue to support her as she pursues further studies to reach her goal to be an Industrial Arts teacher at the Fiji National University.

They took her into their home when she was five months old and now she dedicates her Dux award to them.
An emotional Adi Ravu Maramaniqali Vula, of Immaculate Conception College praised her adoptive parents for their love and support after she was named dux of her school at the prize giving ceremony.
“They are the only reason why I am holding on and not giving up,” she said.

“I am very grateful to my parents for their love and support that helped nurture me to not only lead the school as a Head Girl, but to end my high school journey on a high note by bringing home the dux award.
“My inspiration throughout is the man who took good care of me and stood by me to encourage me when I faced problems and hard times.
“Seeing my dad sitting at home all day due to the injuries he sustained from an accident he had earlier in his life and couldn’t even attend any of the celebrations of my achievements at school, made me more determined to try harder every day to become something in the future.

“I made sure to cheer him up by bringing home good news of academic success and trophies at the end of each school year.
“I was excited when my name was called out for the dux award, but I had only wished that my dad was present there to see me walking up and everyone cheering me on, my village and my dad,” said the Kiobo native.
“I wish if only he was able to walk, to walk me up the stage to receive the award that he had helped achieve through his love, support and teachings,”she said.
