Early Closure For Lautoka Markets From Today
The change in time comes with the new curfew hours that will start from today now beginning from 6pm to 4am.

The different market areas around Lautoka city will close earlier than usual from today.
The change in time comes with the new curfew hours that will start from today now beginning from 6pm to 4am.
Lautoka City Council (LCC) chief executive officer, Mohammed Anees Khan said for the Lautoka main market, the opening hours from Monday to Friday would now be from 7am to 4pm while the opening hours for the bus station market would be from 8am to 4pm and would remain the same for Saturday.

On Saturday, the opening hours for the main market are from 6am to 4am. For the main market new wing, the opening hours will be from 7am to 4pm every Monday to Saturday.
As for the Tavakubu Market, the opening hours from Monday to Saturday will now be from 7am to 5pm.
“LCC has been continuously creating awareness on the COVID-19 protocols for safety, use of CareFIJI app, use of masks and social distancing by using the market public address system and through printed material and posters,” said Mr Khan.
“Meetings are held regularly with the Lautoka Market Vendors Association on getting the vendors to comply with these requirements.
“Children are not allowed entry into the market. The crowd is continuously monitored to ensure the numbers don’t exceed 50 per cent capacity.”
He said a new procedure was also in place seeing to it that any individual found with a higher than normal body temperature, would be taken to isolate at an area next to the office of the market master.
Mr Khan added garbage collection would continue as normal as it remained an essential service.
“All efforts will be made to collect before 5pm every day,” he added.
