No schools should provide or require parents to pay certain amount of fees or levy for enrolling their children for
Year 9 or continuing students who wish to change school. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro highlighted this while commissioning a new school block for Dama District School in Bua yesterday.
Mr Radrodro said the ministry had received reports of schools charging parents fee or levy for enrolment.

"We have received reports that a lot of high schools have set requirement fee for parents to pay, so their children can get enrolled."
Mr Radrodro underscored the ministry is taking this issue seriously as they had sent a circular about this.
He urged parents and guardians if they have been faced with such difficulty, they must report the matter to their nearest education office.
"I want to confirm today that the ministry does not allow this levy requirement. I know that teachers and ministry officials know about this. They have received a circular about this, and it clearly outlined that requirement fee is not allowed."
