EID MUBARAK: ‘Pray For Our Beautiful Country’

Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival that marks the end of the Holy month of Ramadhan.

This joyous day is celebrated to give thanks for the blessings of Ramadhan. Muslims attend the congregational Eid prayer service which is held in the morning. They wear new clothing, cook delicious food and sweets and invite friends and neighbors to celebrate with them.

Fasting during Ramadhan inspires sympathy for the hungry and needy, and encourages Muslims to donate generously to the poor.

This is also a time for reflection, forgiveness, unity and peace.

This year, due to the spread of the Coronavirus in our country, Eid Celebrations will not be as usual. As places of worship are closed, Muslims will be offering Eid prayers at home.

Safety measures

Also following social distancing rules, members of the Muslim community have been urged not to go out to meet family and friends, which in normal times is a big part of the Eid celebration.

Message

My message to all my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters on this Eid is, let us use this occasion to fervently pray for our beautiful Country, our leaders, frontline workers, and everyone involved in the fight against this deadly pandemic. Let us all pray for the people of

Fiji and let’s ensure that we are strictly adhering to the restrictions and guidelines as set by our Government. If we all work together, God willing we can overcome this.
