Urban drive
Over the weekend FEO operated 21 registration centres in the Central Division, 19 in the Western Division, 12 in the Northern Division and four venues in the Eastern Division.
“Appreciation and thanks to all individuals who have come out in the past two days particularly and obtained voter registration services,” he said.
“We have already surpassed our 150,000 target and our new target is going to be 200,000.
“We only have three days to go (until Thursday) so we’re urging all Fijians who have not upgraded to the latest voter card to please come forward and upgrade while we are around your communities and localities.”
After the nationwide drive FEO officials would retreat to their voter services centre.
“We need to make sure that as many Fijians as possible have upgraded to the latest voter card.”
Postal Voting
Meanwhile, FEO are calling on businesses that require their staff to be at work on Elections Day to register for postal voting awareness.
“The arrangement for postal voting is that, for example, one organisation we will send you your entire postal voting pack in separate envelopes in one batch and then we can set up a collection time from the same organisation,” he said.
“We can take it from you and your votes will be read in the national tally.”
Overseas Registration
FEO are also working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to decide for Fijian missions abroad to conduct registrations.
