Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says everyone has the right to criticise Government.

He was responding to critics who have continuously slammed Government ministers for increasing their own pay while the people of Fiji suffered.

Mr Rabuka said ministers were responsible to the people.

“And the people have every right to bring those up,” he said.

Last week Mr Rabuka told a gathering in Labasa to avoid spending money on kalavata’s and garlands as it was costly.

Mr Rabuka said that he constantly reminds his cabinet ministers to stop the ‘Kalavata’ culture during events.

A circular that was also issued by the Ministry of Civil Service. Politicial opponents like Unity Fiji Leader had said that if Government was really serious on controlling state expenses, it should first cut minister’s salaries.
