Former Methodist Church Chaplain at the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS), Reverend Kinijoji Serutawake, urged o f ficers to embrace unity, humility, kindness, and respect for lawful authority in carrying out their duties.

Reverend Serutawake delivered his sermon at the FCS inaugural church parade for 2025 at the Centenary Church in Suva yesterday.

His message further shed light on the danger of spiritual underdevelopment at the workplace, but was instead filled with worldly desires rather than putting the church as its centre of gravity.

Reverend Serutawake was removed from his position in January by the suspended Corrections Commissioner Jalesi Nakarawa.

Last week, the Acting Corrections Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi sought forgiveness from the Methodist Church in Fiji, and also from Reverend Serutawake.

Reverend Serutawake stressed that people's expectations were mulhigher when leaders kept the Holy Spirit in mind as a source of hope during challenges.

He reminded the congregation that leadership should be based on honesty, integrity, and spiritual wisdom to improve individual performance and the organisation as a whole.

Acting Corrections Commissioner message

Mr Naucukidi reminded his officers to demonstrate a sense of willing co-operation and teamwork.

He asked that his teamwork be measdriven by a renewed commitment to uphold higher responsibility as the FCS embarked on an image rebuilding journey.

"I thank the officers for your relentless commitment to unity, unwavering dedication, and hard work towards delivering our obligations and expectations required of us by the Government," Mr Naucukidi said.

He said the Government's needed to realign its focus based on the expectations of the people of Fiji, especially in light of recent controversies surrounding the FCS.
