Members of the public are advised to stay alert as heavy rain warnings for most parts of the country are in force.

The Fiji Meteorological Services reported that a trough of low pressure is expected to approach the group from the west which will affect parts of Fiji from later Saturday.

Those living in the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands and Lomaiviti and Southern Lau Groups are advised to stay alert as forecasts of heavy rain were now in force.

Localised heavy falls could lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

The possibility of clear skies or sunny breaks in between the rain brands are also expected, especially during the early part of the day.

The Fiji Met office will continue to monitor this weather event and update warnings and forecasts accordingly.
