Families are Navy's strength, says Commander Natuva

Republic of Fiji Military Forces Naval Division Commander, Commodore Timoci Natuva told families of the Fiji Navy personnel gathered at My Suva Park on Saturday that sailors could not do their job without them, as the force marked its 51st anniversary with a family fun day.
The event which started with a community walk ended in a get-together at the park.
It brought together sailors and their family members as part of Navy Month celebrations.

“You are only as strong as those that surround you,” Commodore Natuva said.
“If they are looked after, if they are happy, they are managing at home, we’ll be able to do our work out there.”
He said naval work kept many sailors away from home for long stretches, leaving spouses and children to manage alone.
“The work that our members of the Fiji Navy do is quite tough. They’re out there most of the time,” he said.
Commodore Natuva said the day was about giving back.
“We do what we do because of them, and also the people of Fiji. We thank them for their support in the past year and throughout the years.”
He said Navy Month would continue with sporting events culminating on July 24, alongside a Veterans’ Day to honour former servicemen and women.
“It’s only one day, but you know, we owe them a lot,” he said.
