As Fiji enters 2025, families across the country took time to reflect on the past year and embrace new beginnings.

In Wainibuku Nakasi, Esita Ranamila shared her family’s joyful New Year celebration, which marked a fresh start despite the challenges of 2024.

Ms Ranamila expressed gratitude for overcoming obstacles as a family, with some siblings travelling from the west and highlands to reunite and celebrate together.

“We’re excited for the new year and focusing on building a family home for our parents,” said Mr Ranamila.

“2024 taught us valuable lessons, and we’re committed to making the most of the time we have.”

The family chose the Suva Picnic spot to bond, away from their usual routines, to enjoy a special day together.

Meanwhile, in Labasa, Ana Maraia, 35, of Nadogo, Macuata, spent New Year’s Day with her children at the Gurbachan Singh Swimming Pool.

“It’s a peaceful, safe place where we can enjoy each other’s company,” Ms Maraia said.

The mother of two emphasised the importance of spending quality time with children, especially during the school holidays, to strengthen relationships.

Gurbachan Singh Swimming Pool manager Ravikash Chand highlighted the facility as the only public pool in Labasa, offering a range of activities and a safe environment for families.

He encouraged parents to use the pool to teach their children water safety skills.

As the New Year unfolds, families in Fiji continue to prioritise togetherness and growth, focusing on creating lasting memories and building stronger bonds.
