Bedridden Nadi resident, Surendra Kumar, got a welcomed donation from a family from Bula Sevens Food Express, and Razor King Barbers – a hospital-care electric bed.

They did this as part of their community drive.

Businessman Sher Ahmad said the state-of-the-art bed was supposed to be donated earlier this year, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was held back and was done as the recipient was identified.

“The donor’s intention is for the beds to be used in the community by people such as Surendra with his condition, hoping that they will get some comfort from using the bed,” he said.

“It’s hard to imagine the suffering people go through in this condition, lying in bed unable to move."

"They can, at least, be helped in sitting-up, putting their feet up, and use other features of the bed which are remote control and user friendly.”

Mr Kumar’s son, Navin Kumar, 39, speaking on behalf of his father, thanked Mr Ahmed and his family for this kind gesture during these difficult times.

“This has been of great help as this assists my dad with his movements to make him sit for food intake,” he said.

“We are privileged to be with this family who assist others too.”

Mr Ahmad said that a similar bed of similar make will be handed out to another recipient.
