The taxi belonging to murder victim, Edward Anil Raj, was seen by two Jittu Estate residents at around 10.30pm on Sunday November 22, 2020.

The taxi was found abandoned in an open space opposite the home of Peni Vuki. Entry to this part of Jittu Estate is gained through Ratu Mara Road.

Mr Vuki and his wife saw the taxi on their way to a canteen at the area around the same time.

“We thought someone just parked it there. It was unusual but we did not check,” Mr Vuki said.

Meanwhile, Mr Raj’s body was discovered in Toga, Nausori on Monday morning.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, said Police have classified the case as murder. She said no arrests were made at the point.

Police have now set up a tent at the location and are monitoring the situation in the area.

Mr Raj was last seen by his family on the same Sunday. He left his home to massage Ritesh Kumar in Narere.

While the death has been classified as murder, the motive for killing remains unclear.

Mr Raj’s family said that the late patriarch was a strong advocate against the use of methamphetamine and had reported ice pushers to the Police. The family has also said that Mr Raj would not allow anyone to drink in the car as well.

Taxi drivers from the Market Stand in Suva claimed seeing the taxi driven by someone else speeding towards Nausori on Sunday night.

The family is calling on members of the public to come forward with information and they are hoping for the Police to locate those responsible for the death.
