Family Grateful for FNU’s Free Courses

Asenaca Taka was excited to find out about the free TVET short course training being offered by the Fiji National University (FNU) from her friends.
“Times are hard right now, especially when it comes to finances, so I was overjoyed when I found out that FNU was offering free classes at their Robertson TVET centre,” said Taka.
“After finding out about the free courses, I brought my two sons with me to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!”

Asenaca enrolled in the Basic Screen-Printing class because she believes that screen printing could be a lucrative business opportunity.
Taka’s sons, Mitieli Vakatawabai Baleisavou Seru, 23, and Tui Titina Seru, 19, joined their mother in pursuing their dreams to become entrepreneurs in the near future.
Her elder son, Mitieli joined the Small Engine Repair class due to his fascination with engines and engineering from a young age.
“I plan to further my studies after the completion of my short course by joining FNU’s College of Engineering, Science and Technology,” he said.
His younger brother, Tui, undertook the Domestic Electrical Installation class and aims to join an electrical engineering company before starting his own business.
Seru said that he and his brother were inspired by their mother’s enthusiasm to pursue further studies despite her age.
Taka said she hopes to inspire the generations after her to utilise their skills and opportunities, such as those provided by FNU, to earn an honest living.
