A family at Qauia Settlement, Lami, is thankful to be alive after a landslide damaged part of their home on Saturday.

Asenaca Dina (pictured), 78, said the incident occurred about 4pm during the heavy rain that swept through Suva that day.

Having lived at Qauia with her family for 52 years, Ms Dina said everything happened quickly.

“I was hanging clothes on the porch when I heard a loud noise and felt our house shook. My son was sleeping in his room with his family when I called out to them,” she said.
