Family In Tears After Blaze Destroys Home

A family of eight grieved after their 10-bedroom wooden home was destroyed by a fire at Malamala in Nadi on Tuesday afternoon.
Family member, Inesh Deo said: “This house was precious to us because it was built by my grandparents and all the family members lived here.”
My Deo said they had no idea how the fire had started because they had no electricity in the house.

“It was lucky that no one was in the house. We were alerted by the neighbours that our house was on fire. All our family members cried because through the toil of my grandparents that house was built.”
He said the estimated cost of damage is about $25,000.
He also said the house wasn’t complete destroyed thanks to the efforts of the National Fire Authority (NFA).
The authority said investigations into the fire were underway.
