A family of three of Nairukuruku in Lami Village in Suva is still trying to come to terms with losing their home in a fire on Thursday night.

The three-bedroom wooden and corrugated-iron house was burnt to the ground, leaving the family with only the clothes on their backs.

National Fire Authority has yet to release a report on the incident.

Home owner Cema Ramoala said their house was empty when the fire started.

“We were at our neighbour’s house to charge our phones because our electricity was disconnected when I noticed flames and smoke from our home about 11pm. By that time, it was too late to stop the fire,” she said.

Ms Ramoala lived in their home with her husband and 18-year-old daughter.
