Mun Reddy, who was allegedly assaulted at a drinking party in Nadi and later succumbed to injuries sustained,  was described, by family members as a ‘kind-hearted and friendly’ man.

The drinking party at Malolo turned ugly on Thursday afternoon after the 38-year old carpenter lost his life.

Mr Reddy, a twin brother, had joined a group of friends in a drinking party at his neighbour’s home.

His older sister, Renuka Reddy said according to the deceased’s mother, Mun had declined the offer to party, but his friends insisted.

“We didn’t really know what happened during that party. My brother was very close to his family’s friends, and he always visited their place. We didn’t expect things would turn out this way. We heard that they were involved in a fight, and he was brutally killed,” she claimed.

She said her brother was well-liked by everybody.

“My brother was a kind-hearted man, and he had a good relationship with all our neighbours,” she said.

“We will really miss him because he and his twin brother are the only ones supporting our family.”

Police confirmed that the incident happened at around 4 pm.

The victim was transferred to Nadi Hospital then to the Lautoka Hospital where he passed away.

Police investigations are underway.
