The 48-year-old man found lifeless on the Vunato’ Bridge in Lautoka was known for his strong spirit and generous heart, his cousin Silina Filo shared with sadness.

Luke Ravuwai, a farmer from Namono Settlement in Tailevu, had come to visit his partner in Vunato Settlement over the weekend, a visit that now ends in heartbreak for those who loved him.

“Whenever he came to Lautoka, he made time to visit us, but this time he didn’t,” Ms Filo said.

“He was very humble and always willing to share whatever he had. Despite the challenges he faced in life, he treated everyone equally.”

Mr Ravuwai had dreams – plans to start a new chapter in Yasawa with his partner by opening a canteen.

“He will be deeply missed,” she said softly with tears welling up.

“It’s hard to believe he’s gone.”

“The partner informed us that he didn’t return home on Friday night after going out for drinks with friends.

“Again, on Saturday morning, there was still no sign of him. When I called his phone, it was switched off. Later, we heard that someone had been found on the bridge. We checked the morgue, and it was him.”

She claimed that the deceased had injury marks to his head and body.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said: “The autopsy report will determine the cause of death, and a police investigation is underway.”
