Family of Ba taxi driver demands justice

The family of Ba taxi driver Donal Prasad, whose body was found in Qalitu, Lautoka on the afternoon of December 2, is demanding justice.
Mr Prasad was last seen on December 1 when he left his home in Varavu, Ba to pick a passenger in Qalitu, Lautoka.
His body was discovered a day later at the same location while his taxi was left abandoned near the Anupam Theatre in Lautoka.

“We cannot do anything now because he is gone, he was cremated at around 1pm. It was emotional for us because around 200 to 300 people came to pay their respects.
He was well known.
“We only want justice to be served, we want the police to do its job because we haven’t heard anything else from them about the case,” he said.
Police confirmed yesterday that investigators has classified the cause of death as murder and were gathering statements as well as CCTV footage of where Mr Prasad was reportedly seen.
The Divisional Police Commander West (DPC/W) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa said statement gathering and CCTV footage were happening in Ba and Lautoka. However, no arrests have been made.
Mr Prasad is survived by his wife Saleshni Karishma Chand and two toddler sons; one-year-old Kartik Prasad and four-year-old Krishneel Prasad.
