Family Seeks Ways To Survive, Rebuild

A family in Naseakula Village in Labasa will now find ways to survive and rebuild their home after it was destroyed in a fire.
The incident is said to have happened on Tuesday at 2am.
Luisa Leleiwaqa, 56, said they could not save anything because by the time their Neighbour raised the alarm, half of their three-bedroom house was burned down.

“I quickly made sure my husband, son and two grandchildren including a 16-month-old baby were safe,” Mrs Leleiwaqa said.
“The house was built by my in-laws in 1976.
“My husband and I were operating a small business from home, selling ice-cream and pounded kava and now it’s all gone,” she said.
“My relative near our home is providing shelter to us until we collect some money to rebuild the house.
“We are praying to God and relying on his mercy and grace,” she said with tears in her eyes.
Meanwhile, the National Fire Authority is carrying out investigations and will release details in coming days.
