The family of a Fijian residing in New Zealand is still in shock over the death of their brother and son who was allegedly shot by New Zealand Police in Auckland on Sunday night.

The New Zealand Herald reported that Hitesh Lal was shot by Police in Papatoetoe, Auckland, after receiving calls from frightened residents.

Mr Lal was alleged to have been seen causing damages to vehicles, smashing windows and even attempting to cut power lines.

When the Fiji Sun visited the family of the victim in Yalalevu, Ba, yesterday, they were too distraught to make a comment.

A close relative, who wished to remain anonymous, said the news was shocking and the family was searching for answers as to how and why he was really shot.

The relative said the family could not make a comment at the moment.
