A family in Votualevu, Nadi are thankful to be alive after a they were awaken by a landslide near their home yesterday.

The landslide resulted in their vehicle being shifted three metres away from where it had been parked, sustaining $500 worth of damage.

Mohinesh Chand, 40, a technician by profession, said the incident happened at around 5am during the heavy rain that was being felt around the Western Division that day.

“I was surprised that a good load of soil had slid into the compound and it moved my vehicle for three metres before it came to a halt,” he said.
