Peni’s mother, Sulueti Vicoka, said the Commander Joint Task Force, Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, visited Peni at the Nadi Hospital, as they were preparing him to be discharged.
“He apologised on behalf of the personnel and assured us the military would investigate those involved and deal with the matter,” Ms Vicokai said.
She highlighted that they had approached the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF) but were told a police report was required before processing their claim.
“We went to the police station and were told the driver would be interviewed this Sunday. After that, a report will be released,” she said.
“That has kept us in Nawaka while we wait. We want to return to Navosa because our children need to attend school.”
Questions sent to RFMF Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai remain unanswered.
