The daughter of a yaqona farmer is the 2025 head girl of Waiqele Primary School in Labasa.

Vasitia Waqaninavatu is proud of her achievement saying she is the first in her family to hold this leadership role.

“While being the deputy headgirl of the school last year, I prayed a lot and worked diligently, and I thank Jesus for rewarding my hard work,” Vasitia said.

“It is not easy to be a leader because we can’t please everyone and allow wrong to be done in school.”

The third of five siblings from Nakama Village, Labasa, is confident of being a better leader and aims to help the school achieve good academic results in Year Eight.

Meanwhile, Kreeshal Kumar was surprised to be head boy even though he was the deputy head boy last year.

“There is always tough competitions in school and that’s why I never thought of getting this position,” Kreeshal of Waiqele, said.

“I thank my father, the sole breadwinner in the family for supporting my education and allowing me to dream of becoming an aerospace engineer.”

They will lead 25 other prefects to help control 130 student from year one to year eight.
