A 56-year-old man accused of raping his 13-year-old daughter is among 11 family and domestic-related sexual offence cases filed in Fiji's High Court last month, according to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The ODPP's June 2026 statistics reveal that most of the serious sexual offence cases involved victims who knew their alleged attackers, with 11 of the 16 victims aged under 18 and 11 incidents involving relatives or people in domestic relationships.

Among the cases was one involving a 32-year-old man charged with the alleged rape and indecent assault of his 10-year-old stepdaughter.

Other cases included a 48-year-old man charged with the alleged rape of his 11-year-old niece, a 38-year-old man charged with the alleged rape and sexual assault of his 17-year-old niece, and a 27-year-old man charged with the alleged rape of his 15-year-old niece.

The ODPP also reported a case in which a 16-year-old boy was charged with the alleged rape of his 10-year-old niece. Another case involving a 38-year-old man accused of raping his 10-year-old niece was discontinued due to insufficient evidence.

Other domestic-related cases involved a 21-year-old man charged with the alleged rape of his 14-year-old cousin, a 22-year-old man charged with the alleged rape of his 17-year-old sister-in-law, and a 36-year-old man charged with the alleged rape of his 29-year-old wife.

Overall, the ODPP filed 16 indictments involving 20 counts of serious sexual offences in June.

These comprised 14 counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault and three counts of sexual assault. Sixteen accused persons, including two juveniles, were charged.
