With the new bus fares being effective from Monday 10 February 2020, FCCC encourages bus operators to engage in competition and provide the best outcomes for Fijians.
The fares set by FCCC is a maximum fare that serves as a ceiling to protect vulnerable Fijians.
Mr Abraham acknowledged Tacirua Buses who have informed that they will be charging less than the newly established maximum fare.

The maximum express fare for Suva-Nausori is $2.11 and Tacirua has agreed to charge $2.00 for adult fare.
“On non-exclusive routes, we encourage bus operators to demonstrate cost leadership and set competitive fares to = attract customers as Tacirua Buses has.”
Bus companies are adviced not to unilaterally change the fare to above the maximum price as this will be a chargeable offence.
Meanwhile, for any future request to review the bus fares, the bus operators are required to adhere to the Bus Fare Regulatory Framework.
Fares for Bus Services
The prices set out in Schedules 1 to 4 are the maximum fares at which the bus service shall be charged on the areas specified in the Schedules.
