Feakes Leaves Fiji With Fond Memories, Promise To Return As Regular Visitor

Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau received a farewell call from the outgoing Australian High Commissioner John Feakes on July 26, 2022.
Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes will always cherish the four years and five months he spent in Fiji. He arrived in Fiji in February 2018 and his term ends on August 1.
Mr Feakes said the Vuvale partnership would continue. The Vuvale Partnership was signed between Fiji and Australia during his tenure.
“I have enjoyed every minute of my time in Fiji. Fijians are the warmest people in the world and Fiji is a spectacularly beautiful country,” Mr Feakes said.

Mr Feakes said he would be a frequent visitor to Fiji.
“I am going to Indonesia to join my wife who is posted to the Australian Embassy in Jakarta,” he said.
“The decision of who will be the next Australian High Commissioner to Fiji has not been announced yet.”
Last week, President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere bestowed the Honorary Officer of the Order of Fiji Medal to Mr Feakes.
The Honorary Officer of the Order of Fiji is bestowed upon those who have rendered distinguished service of a high degree to Fiji and humanity at large.
