The Fiji Police Force has identified several ‘Red Zones’ in Suva where crime and incidents are most likely to occur.

Among the highest-risk areas is Edinburgh Drive roundabout to Walu Bay, known as a notorious stretch flagged for heightened patrols. Police officers, as of yesterday, have started patrolling around the area.

Acting Police Commissioner Aporosa Lutunauga emphasised the importance of public vigilance, especially during this festive season.

“Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Poor decisions can have serious consequences.” Mr Lutunauga said.

The acting Commissioner warned the public to be especially mindful of alcohol-related risks and urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads.

“If you’re thinking about committing a crime, think twice before you act”

In a public statement, Police issued safety measures include wearing seatbelts, planning trips ahead of time, staying alert while driving, and refraining from phone use on the road.

Police also called on the community to play an active role in preventing crime and accidents in these high-risk areas.

“We all have a role to play in keeping our streets safe.”

With the festive season bringing increased travel and gatherings, the Police are prioritising public awareness and enforcement to ensure the safety of all.
