The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fiji Airways, Paul Scurrah, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2026 Australia Day Honours.
The honour recognises Scurrah’s significant service to the transport, logistics and freight sectors in Australia, where he has held senior leadership roles for more than two decades.
The Order of Australia is the country’s principal honours system and acknowledges individuals whose work has delivered sustained impact within their profession and the wider community.
Scurrah’s appointment recognises his leadership across Australia’s transport and logistics industries, including national freight services, where he led large-scale organisations through periods of transformation with a focus on safety, operational resilience, workforce engagement, customer service and national connectivity.
His work is also credited with strengthening supply chain capability, modernising logistics operations, improving safety performance and supporting essential services that underpin economic activity and community wellbeing, particularly during periods of disruption.
Fiji Airways chair Nalin Patel said the honour reflected both Scurrah’s professional legacy in Australia and the leadership he brings to Fiji’s national airline.
“Paul’s appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia is a significant and well-deserved recognition of his contribution to industries that are fundamental to national and regional connectivity,” Mr Patel said.
“The Board is proud to have a leader of Paul’s calibre guiding Fiji Airways. His international experience, values-based leadership and commitment to people, safety and excellence continue to strengthen the airline and position it well for sustainable long-term growth.”
Since joining Fiji Airways, Scurrah has provided strategic direction, reinforced a strong safety culture and placed people and service excellence at the centre of the airline’s operations. Under his leadership, the airline continues its goal of becoming the World’s Happiest Airline while delivering reliable connectivity for Fiji and its global network.
Scurrah said he was deeply honoured to receive the award.
“I am humbled by this award and grateful to have worked alongside so many dedicated people across Australia’s transport and logistics sectors over many years,” Mr Scurrah said.
“These industries are about connecting people, businesses and communities and any contribution I’ve made has been the result of strong teams working with a shared sense of purpose. I am equally proud of the work we are doing at Fiji Airways, serving Fiji and connecting our islands to the world.”
