The Government has allocated $1.125 million in the 2025–2026 National Budget to establish an embassy in Israel.

The allocation, listed under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is the first formal financial commitment toward setting up Fiji’s permanent mission, following Cabinet’s endorsement earlier this year for the embassy to be located in Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence are expected to carry out necessary risk assessments, in consultation with relevant agencies, prior to and during the establishment process.

Fiji and Israel have enjoyed formal diplomatic relations since 1970, with cooperation spanning security and peacekeeping, agriculture, water management, and climate resilience.

Further details on timelines, staffing, and location-specific arrangements are yet to be confirmed.
