Men and women of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) were recognised for their years of commitment and sacrifice during the Medal Parade held as part of this week’s Corrections Day celebrations.

Speaking at the event yesterday, FCS Acting Commissioner, Sevuloni Naucukidi, said the ceremony marked a moment of pride as FCS celebrated 150 years of service to the nation.

He said the milestone was not only honouring history but also about recognising the achievements and sacrifices of officers who have dedicated their lives to the organisation.

“In celebrating 150 years, we celebrate history and achievements. We remember those who have passed on, we acknowledge the sacrifices made by many for this organisation, and we reward those whose achievements exemplify the virtues of being a Corrections Officer,” he said.

Mr Naucukidi highlighted the challenges faced by the service over the years, including limited resources, funding constraints, and aging infrastructure. Despite these struggles, he said officers continued to serve with strength, resilience, and dedication.

“The standards and the fruits of our labour today are because of the sacrifices of many who have gone before us. We stand on the shoulders of great men and women who served with little recognition but great perseverance,” he said.

He paid special tribute to the medal recipients and their families, acknowledging the vital support of their loved ones.

“We honour your families, your wives, husbands, and children – for standing by you through tough times and sharing in your triumphs. You are nothing without them,” he said. Mr Naucukidi told the awardees that their names would now be written into the proud history of the Fiji Corrections Service.

“This is our way of showing you that we see you, we hear you, and we recognise the impact of your good work,” he said.

He ended by thanking all officers for going above and beyond the call of duty.

“We, the men and women of the Fiji Corrections Service, salute you and congratulate you. Vinaka vakalevu and God bless you and your families,” he said.
