Fiji, Japan Team Up to Build Brighter Future at Navuakece

The Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, alongside the Japanese Ambassador to Fiji, Rokuichiro Michii, officially commissioned and handed over a new set of facilities at Navuakece District School, Naitasiri, on Thursday.
The project includes the construction of one new block comprising three classrooms, which was delivered to the school management board.
Mr Radrodro thanked the government of Japan for its unwavering support and commitment to education, especially in remote areas such as Navuakece.

He highlighted the importance of the project, emphasising that it goes beyond simply providing new infrastructure.
“These classrooms are not just buildings; they are safe, vibrant spaces where our children can explore, learn, and grow. They offer our students the right environment to begin their educational journey,” he said.
The classrooms, valued at $412,134, were jointly funded by the Governments of Fiji and Japan. They are intended to provide a conducive learning environment for the children of Navuakece, significantly improving the educational experience for the community.

Mr Radrodro also recognised the resilience and dedication of the school’s management, parents, teachers, and the current Head of School (HOS).
He encouraged the school’s leadership and community members to continue working together in collaboration for the ongoing success of the school. Reaffirming the Coalition Government’s commitment to education, the minister stressed the importance of collaboration and consultation as key to Fiji’s future progress.
“This reflects our government’s dedication to ensuring that quality education is accessible to all children, with no one left behind,” he said.
In closing, Mr Radrodro called on parents, guardians, teachers, and the wider community to take collective responsibility for nurturing the next generation of leaders.
He urged the school staff and management to take full ownership of the new facilities and continue to work towards providing the best possible education for students.
