The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, as chairperson of the iTaukei Lands Trust Board, has warned those who are allegedly duping people into getting iTaukei land lease.
He said those who had attempted to do this, would face the full brunt of the law.
Mr Bainimarama made comments after the board opened an investigation on two cases in Nadi where a group of individuals attempted to lease iTaukei land using fake iTLTB documents.

He reminded people that iTLTB was the only entity in the country to administer iTaukei land leases whether it was for residential, agriculture or commercial leasing.
“Members of the public have also been advised to immediately report any suspicious iTaukei land dealing that does not involve relevant parties,” Mr Bainimarama said.
“All iTaukei land dealings will continue to be processed in line with the TLTB policies and procedures.
“The Board will not be responsible for dealings made by individuals who are not TLTB officers.”
The scam
It is believed that a group has gone around Nadi area attempting to lease iTaukei land with forged iTLTB documents.
Neither the landowners nor iTLTB were aware of this until it was brought to their attention by those who were potential lessees of the land.
